Remembrance Day

It was a brisk but sunny day November 11 at 11:00 am 2016.  We gathered as we always do at the Richmond Hill cenotaph on Yonge St. for the Legion’s remembrance ceremony. Such a beautiful service. This year our Legion President and his wife are retiring and moving out of Town. Julian and Mary, my friends for many years, you will truly be missed.

Community Living York South – 60 Years of Commitment!!

On Thursday, June 12, 2014, the Community Living York South Association celebrated its 60th anniversary. The BBQ and event held on Edward Ave. included a Silent Auction and Casino Games and was extremely well-attended. It was lovely to see so many people dressed to create “an atmosphere of sparkle and glamour by dressing in cream or white clothing.” Everyone looked quite fresh and summery. That is so much nicer than being asked to wear “business attire”!.

myRide – York Region's Travel Training Program 2014

myRide Award Ceremony 2014

The myRide awards ceremony was held at the Region of York’s Administrative Centre on Yonge St. in Newmarket on June 5, 2014.

This was a moving event – no pun intended – because this program helps residents who for a variety of reasons, have barriers to using public transit. This program helps persons with language barriers, В intellectual or physical handicaps and others who want to access public transit for school, work, or social events but have encountered difficulties with access.В  Through this program, parents, students, residents find the freedom of travel on their own! В myRide is partnered with York Region Transit and affilliatedВ with the Centre for Immigrant and Community Services; the Community Living York South; the ABLE Network and the York Region District School Board.В  For information contact 1-877-464-9675 or .
